A Letter from Our Club President

Dear Fellow Golfer:
Happy New Year. I hope 2017 brings you good health and good golf. I anticipate 2017 to be a very good year for the WGC. I’m pleased to inform you that Mr. James Ironside will be our new golf professional. Jim was most recently the head professional at Alburg Golf Links at Alburg, VT. Previously he was the assistant pro for three years at Kanon Valley Country Club in Oneida,N.Y. where he was the leader of all golf operations. Jim chose the WGC to be closer to his home.
Jim received a Bachelor’s Business Administration (BBA) degree in professional golf management from SUNY Delhi in 2008. During his three years at Alburg Jim was responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the golf course, managing the staff and managing all member inquiries. In addition, he offered a wide variety of merchandising, setting up and securing old and new tournaments and promoting the game of golf.
Jim has received numerous awards including junior golf. Jim is an excellent player and teacher. He will be involved with lessons and clinics for members and the public. He and his wife and son look forward to being close to home.
Our golf advisor/consultant Dave Mosher continues to assist us with several new initiatives that will improve our membership and public play. Dave & I have met several times with Ft. Drum officials and anticipate an agreement that will provide a much closer relationship whereby we can provide the golf programs they need. This season we will have a new business plan that includes “stay and play” golf packages at various hotels, new corporate memberships with various businesses, and programs that will attract new golfers. Several new committees will be established to ensure good communication, participation, and new ideas from our members & non-members.
I anticipate Kylie Pleskach & Ken Hicks returning. They do a great job. Plans call for improvements to the clubhouse and to continue to have an outstanding golf course.
Thank you for your continued support.
